At Big Image we always think outside the framed picture. We are proud to offer the latest in inkjet technology and airbrush printers that are exclusively ours in the world. With our extensive technical knowledge, craftsmanship and artistic expression we have created services and innovations to handle any requirements.

Big Image was among the first in the world to print large images on flexible material. Today we are one of the leading companies in Europe producing large image communication and have the entire world as a canvass.

We see ourselves as an inspiration for large and small customers alike. This means that we also strive to strengthen large image communication as a medium. If no solution exists we will invent one, no matter if it means new appliances for mounting, visual presentation systems or software drivers for the printers. We also work to continually develop our award winning techniques.
We always try to break free from the regular image frame. With the combination of knowledge and service we make big image ideas even bigger.

Projects

Big Image’s customers come from both the cultural and business world. From stage décor for Broadway productions to the world’s largest hot air balloon over Acapulco.

We create images for indoor as well as outdoor use. We have completed projects for retail stores, hotels, restaurants, exhibitions, fashion shows, opera houses, theatres and much more, all over the world.

Via event companies, trade fair and convention organizers and advertising agencies we have served the needs of both small and large customers worldwide. A few examples are Apple, IKEA, Volvo, Åhléns (Sweden’s biggest department store), SVT (Swedish Television) and all of the large Broadway theatres.

Environment

Regard for the environment is present in everything we do at Big Image. We always strive to minimize material use and to not use fire proofing agents containing halogens in our products.

We also work consciously to minimize the amount of waste, lower our energy consumption and decrease the use of solvents in our products. Remnants of the solvents we do use are always disposed of in the proper way. All remaining material is recycled, for example paper, cardboard, aluminium and computer components.

Organization

Big Image Systems AB is a family company wholly owned by the Schäfer family. Our headquarters is located in Täby, just north of Stockholm and we employ 35 people. We also have a branch in Berlin that employs 24 people.

The operation stands on three legs – production, development and image – and we are currently made up of four companies:

• Big Image Systems Sweden AB operates the company in Sweden.
• Big Image Systems Deutschland GmbH operates the German division.
• Big Image Systems International AB works with international projects and comprehensive strategies.
• Big Image Systems Technologies AB manufactures and develops machinery and materials.
